the yellow chair

if my five year old self could see this chair — well, let’s just say i doubt my twenty-four year old self would ever have the chance to sit in it again. yellow, to me, was joy in colour form when i was little. it’s half the reason i chose the parakeet i did when my parents let me get a bird. his yellow feathers were to me what sunshine is to most. now, i can’t handle bright light, so the sun is not what i’d call a friend, but i do love me some yellow. always have. so when i went scrolling through ikea’s list of armchairs after we rehomed our sectional, and stumbled upon this little happy little guy, it was a done deal. i was sold.

i think it’s safe to say yellow brings liam joy, too.
